This weekend was pretty historic. First, on Friday New York became the 6th and largest state to legalize same sex marriage. As if this wasn’t enough cause to celebrate, Cuomo successfully pushed this law through in time for New York City’s biggest, gayest, most colorful and fun event of the year, the Gay Pride Parade. Way to go Andrew Cuomo!! I am proud to say that I originally hail from a state where same sex marriage is legal (magnificent Connecticut) and now am a resident in a state where everyone is allowed the same rights and respect when it comes to marriage laws.
When I eventually get married my best friend of twelve years, Amanda, will be my maid of honor, she already knows this. The idea that she could stand next to me at my wedding and not even be able to have her own legal marriage is sad and mind-boggling. We have shared in so many of each other’s experiences over the years, so I am happy and thankful that marriage will be yet another milestone we will see each other through. Amanda, I’m sorry, but I’m not going to let you get away without having a wedding (even if it’s just at City Hall), because seriously, no one else will make me their maid of honor.
Now for the look…
First I lined my lids, as well as the inner rims, with Blacktrack. Since I don’t have red liner or shadow I used the NARS lipstick Heatwave applied with a small brush. Lipstick won’t dry, so I lightly tapped some powder over it to prevent smudging. For all of the other lines I used shadow mixed with Make Up For Ever Eye Seal. I scraped a little bit of the shadow onto a separate palette and mixed it with the Eye Seal which automatically turns the powder into a liquid liner. Pretty cool, right?? You can use Eye Seal with any shadow to make it into a liner, only don’t drop it directly into your eye shadow palette. A chemical reaction takes place which renders the shadow unusable as shadow if you do this.
Using this method I created a line of liquid liner for each shade of the rainbow reaching from my lash line to my brow, filling my brow with Blacktrack.
I’m proud of you New York.
