Welcome to Food & Fashion, a project where I, along with my good friend and fellow food lover Aziz Ansari, hit up five of our favorite restaurants in NYC and dressed for the occasion. Last, but certainly not least is about our trip to The Bowery Hotel for a relaxing cocktail to wash down all the god damn food we’ve been eating. Read below for a full recap of our delicious meal and a breakdown of our looks. Photos by Noah Kalina. Gold Rush photo by me.
THE BOWERY HOTEL

The Bowery Hotel lobby is a great place to have a relaxing drink. Its quiet, no music, no hub bub, just a nice place to enjoy a good drink and have a conversation with good company. I can’t remember where I first had a gold rush, but its one of my absolute favorite cocktails and is kind of my go to at the Bowery.
Our recipe for the perfect Gold Rush: 3/4 oz 2:1 honey syrup, 3/4 oz lemon juice, 1 1/2 oz Maker’s Mark bourbon, shake it up, pour it over the biggest ice cubes you can find.
Anna wanted me to rock a pocket square for this outfit, but unfortunately I forgot to bring one from LA. “But Aziz, it looks like you have a perfectly crisp, nice white pocket square situation going on?” Yes, I know. In a clutch move that was ridiculed at first by both Anna and photographer Noah, I folded up a piece of Bowery Hotel notepad paper to make an impromptu pocket square. Not recommended for use on the reg, but if you’re in an emergency pocket square scenario, you know what to do. No one noticed anything, hell, you didn’t until I said something, so don’t make fun of me. By the way, speaking of pocket squares, someone once gave me an article titled “5 Ways to Fold a Pocket Square,” useful for pocket square folding and if you leave it on your coffee table, its also useful in letting anyone that sees it know you are a total toolbag.
My suit is from Mr. Ned’s, which is an amazing tailor that makes custom suits at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend checking it out. It’s very fun to pick your fabric, your linings, your buttons, and really make something unique that’s only yours.

I love The Bowery Hotel so much. It might be my favorite indoor location in New York City. I love how dark it is, I love how it’s decorated, I love the bar and the outside terrace. When I’m at The Bowery Hotel I feel like I’ve been transported to a different place and time and since I’ve always felt I was born in the wrong era, there is something about the hotel that makes me feel like I’ve made it to a place where I belong. I wish I could sit at that bar all day wearing amazing clothes, smoking a from a long cigarette holder and drinking a Gold Rush. Granted, if that were my life there it would also probably mean that I was some 26-year-old drunk divorcee who’s avoiding her children, but whatever.
With a dress is by DVF and shoes by DKNY, this is the fanciest outfit I own, but the dress is so comfortable and the whole outfit makes me feel like I walked out of London in the swinging sixties. I decided to save The Bowery Hotel for last since it’s always best to end the night over a good drink with a good friend. Ok fine, one more Gold Rush and then I SWEAR I’m going to sleep.
